Having watched many interesting youtube videos of Dr. JP and Lok Satta party, and having made a small donation to the party, I`m disappointed to learn that it has won just 1 assembly seat. I guess I didn`t completely realize that its popularity on the internet doesn`t correspond to its popularity in the off-line world. The only relief is that JP himself has won and appears to be optimistic about future. Check out his analysis of the elections here and in the following youtube video (in telugu):

Why ever would you consider this disappointing? They got 1.7% of all votes across the state. Thats phenomenal for a new party that doesnt do all the money/liquor/caste/rowdyism stuff that others do. I know so many people that didnt vote for Lok Satta because they thought it woudnt win.
ReplyDeleteI can see Lok Satta doing ten times better in the next elections. Think how long it took Mayawati in UP to emerge.

ReplyDeleteI expected them to win several seats especially in urban areas. Its unfortunate that even among the educated, many thought that it would be "wasteful" to vote for loksatta. I hope you are right about the next elections.
Its not questiono f how many seats you won, its the question of how many seats u contested honestly without distributing money/liqour ..they got more vote share than communists thats significant I am sure by next elections they will perform much better
